Farewell 2010

2010 has been a good year for me. So many blessings. I have my share of problems too but I would rather think of the positive things than dwell on the negative things. As I bid goodbye the the year, these are what I am thankful for.

Good Health. I'm physically fit to be able to work, as my medical result turned out. Yippeee! Except for minor cuts and hello eye wear, I am good to go..

Bondings. With my family and relatives. With friends and acquaintances. With co-workers. My social network has grown and my social life has become active after years of dormancy. haha!

Travel and Adventure. Ive been to places I've never been before or re-visited places I went to when I was still a toddler. Surigao. Maramag. Pagadian. I have conquered the Zipzone challenge in Dahilayan, Bukidnon and conquered my fear of heights with the Skywalk and Edge Coaster in Cebu! Hip hip! Hooray!!! I have renewed my passport so *fingers crossed* for future escapades. Oh! I also get to have Andy, my trusted travel companion. tee hee!

Fashion. The caterpillar has turned into a cocoon and is now ready to free herself from bondage. Drama! I can never say I am a fashionista but there is still room for improvement in my sense of style. It is never too late. Bang! I'm loving my flat shoes this year!

Looking forward to what is in store for me in 2011. I have a feeling its gonna be a better year. Happy New Year, Everyone.

What were you thankful for in 2010?

Live Curious

"Live curious" is about exploration, pioneering and questioning, which captures National Geographic's shared spirit.

I read about this campaign in Daphne's Diary months ago and I was super duper interested to having the shirt and as a Christmas present, I bought my self one.

If only they have the "Everything deserves a why" statement, I would have bought that.

Giving into Temptation

Its been quite a while since I last purchased some books. I strayed away from NBS (that's National Bookstore, btw) and Book Sale due to financial constraints. Haha! Well, basically because I aimed to buy some stuff for myself.

Then, today, after work, I was supposed to meet up with bff K but plans got changed at the last minute so I went to the mall to kill some time. I came upon the sale stall of NBS and lo! and behold! There were books on sale! Although some were not in new condition but still in good reading condition.

my purchases

Jodi Picoult's Second Chance: Regular price: Php289 Sale price:Php50

Cecelia Ahern's If you could see me now: Regular Price: Php349 Sale price:Php75

Ann Brashares' Forever in Blue: Regular Price: Php289 Sale price:Php100

Sophie Kinsella's Confessions of a Shopaholic: Regular Price: Php275 Sale Price:Php100;

Sophie Kinsella's Shopaholic Ties the Knot: Regular Price: Php275 Sale Price:Php90;

Sophie Kinsella's Shopaholic and Baby: Regular Price: Php259 Sale Price:Php75;

Brooke Shields' Down came the rain (Hard Bound) Regular Price: Php99 Sale Price:Php50;

So, there will definitely no ticket for the upcoming The Crooner and the comedienne concert for me...

Gifts with my name on it

I posted my personal wishlist for 2010 and I'm happy to say I got two out of five. I bought myself a digital camera and a belle de jour power planner 2011. Yehey!!!

My barkada's been bugging me for my wishlist for our annual exchange gift. We usually do this to make it easier for our manita to think of something to give. heheh. Bff D posted her wishlist here. Although there's a slim chance that my barkada will get to read this (but I'm hoping they do) then the following are my choices:

In line with out theme: Something that starts with the letters from our first name or nickname. In my case, its BETHANIE MAE, BETH, or BEE.

B for BOB SHOES. Since I can't afford a pair of Toms now, a pair of locally manufactured Bob shoes would suffice. hehehe. I'm a size 8, by the way. *winks*

B for Bench Jeggings with back pocket. I'm surprising myself with this one. Never thought I would want to own a pair of jeggings considering how my thighs bloated. haha!

B for Boyfriend Polo Shirt. This would be nice to pair up with the jeggings... heheh

numbers, anyone?

Its one of those days again. Slept late woke up at dawn, scared and can't go back to sleep. What was there to do? I checked up on Numerology and I found this interesting site. Why the certain interest in numbers? Its something I can't explain. I liked the Da Vinci Code because it introduced me to Fibonacci sequence. I believe numbers in our life exists far more important that choosing the right combination for a lotto bet. In a personal note, I feel that the numbers that surrounds me are messages and/or signs from my Mom. Irony with this interest is that I struggle with math and computations. haha.

HERE ARE MY RESULTS

You entered: B******* M** C*****

There are 16 letters in your name.
Those 16 letters total to 67
There are 8 vowels and 8 consonants in your name.

What your first name means:

HebrewFemaleVariant of Bethany - a village near Jerusalem where Jesus visited Mary; Martha and Lazarus.

Your number is: 4

The characteristics of #4 are: A foundation, order, service, struggle against limits, steady growth.

The expression or destiny for #4:
Order, service, and management are the cornerstones of the number 4 Expression. Your destiny is to express wonderful organization skills with your ever practical, down-to-earth approach. You are the kind of person who is always willing to work those long, hard hours to push a project through to completion. A patience with detail allows you to become expert in fields such as building, engineering, and all forms of craftsmanship. Your abilities to write and teach may lean toward the more technical and detailed. In the arts, music will likely be your choice. Artistic talents may also appear in such fields as horiculture and floral arrangement, as well. Many skilled physicians and especially surgeons have the 4 Expression.

The positive attitudes of the 4 Expression yield responsibility; you are one who no doubt, fulfills obligations, and is highly systematic and orderly. You are serious and sincere, honest and faithful. It is your role to help and you are required to do a good job at everything you undertake.

If there is too much 4 energies present in your makeup, you may express some of the negative attitudes of the number 4. The obligations that you face may tend to create frustration and feelings of limitation or restriction. You may sometimes find yourself nursing negative attitudes in this regard and these can keep you in a rather low mood. Avoid becoming too rigid, stubborn, dogmatic, and fixed in your opinions. You may have a tendency to develop and hold very strong likes and dislikes, and some of these may border on the classification of prejudice. The negative side of 4 often produces dominant and bossy individuals who use disciplinarian to an excess. These tendencies must be avoided. Finally, like nearly all with 4 Expression, you must keep your eye on the big picture and not get overly wrapped up in detail and routine.

Your Soul Urge number is: 6

A Soul Urge number of 6 means:
With a number 6 Soul Urge, you would like to be appreciated for your ability to handle responsibility. Your home and family are likely to be a strong focus for you, perhaps the strongest focus of your life. Friendship, love, and affection are high on your list of priorities for a happy life. You have a lot of diplomatic tendencies in your makeup, as you a able to rectify and balance situations with an innate skill. You like working with people rather than by yourself. It is extremely important for you to have harmony in your environment at all times.

The positive side of the 6 Soul Urge produces a huge capacity for responsibility; you are always there and ready to assume more than your share of the load. If you possess positive 6 Soul Urges and express them, you are known for your generosity, understanding and deep sympathetic attitude. Strong 6 energy is very giving of love, affection, and emotional support. You may have the inclination to teach or serve your community in other idealistic ways. You have natural abilities to help people. You are also likely to have artistic and creative leanings.

If you have an over-supply of 6 energy in your makeup, you may express some of the negative traits common to this number. With such a strong sympathetic attitude, it is easy to become too emotional. Sometimes the desires to render help can be over done, and it can become interfering and an attitude that is too protective, rather than helpful. The person with too much 6 energy often finds that people tend to take advantage of this very giving spirit. You may tend to repress your own needs so that you can cater to the demands from others. At times, there may be a tendency in this, for becoming over-loaded with such demands, and as a result become resentful.

Your Inner Dream number is: 7

An Inner Dream number of 7 means:
You dream of having the opportunity to read, study, and shut yourself off from worldly distractions. You can see yourself as a teacher, mystic, or ecclesiastic, spending your life in the pursuit of knowledge and learning.

If you're interested what numbers have to say about you, visit this and see for yourself :)

Wanted: Love made in China

This is not your ordinary love story nor it is a story about China's Economy.

I came upon a statement, "God created the world and the rest is made in China". A point to ponder, can love be made in China? I'm not talking about love between two Chinese individual or about two strangers meeting up in China. Those are exemptions. Those things happen. I'm talking about love (as manufactured and signed with MADE IN CHINA). Silly old me! I'm talking nonsense! Crazy B!

Really!?! How can one let go of failed relationships? How does one go on after a break-up? How does one pick and mend the broken pieces? *Where do broken hearts go ♫*

If only... Relationships were like buying clothes covered with a 7 Days return policy.

If only... Reading Relationship for Dummies have a 100% money back guarantee.

Too bad... I am cautious. Very cautious. Traumatized.

I'm not thinking straight. I'm emotionally unstable. I'm in turmoil. Blame it on my hormones! *Can somebody give me a bar of chocolate!*

Ycey says the darnest things

I'm on Tita duty since friday afternoon, after Bro's fam surprised us with their visit. It's a good thing too since it was Mama's 15th death anniversary. We had a family picture taken over at the mall and I've posted it on my FB account.

Ycey, my li'l niece is charming as ever. I never grew tired playing with her. She is one witty li'l angel.

A. Sosyal

Me: Wow! Nice kaayo ang dress ni Ycey. Sosyal
Ycey: Ober ober! Joke lang! *Over! Over! Joke lang*

B. New friends

Me: Daghan ka friends?
Ycey: Bongga Amiga!

C. Impatient

While waiting for my Dad, who was inside Mercury Drug
Ycey: Kadugay ba ni Loloy Loloy (Lolo Loloy) oi

D. Immortal

Ycey: Ycey kay taong lobo.

E. Ice cream

While eating ice cream yesterday, we told her to finish off her ice cream since we couldn't go in inside the grocery.
Bro: Wala man lami ni nga ice cream.
Ycey: Obviously irritated. Said, "Lami man. Sagad ra man si My Daddy."

Until your next visit, Y. :)

Fashion Hype

I grew up in MSU in the Islamic City of Marawi so its natural that Muslim Holidays are celebrated in the community. Even though I am immersed in a conservative way of living, I still have a lot to learn. Today, the Eid'l Adha, the feast of Sacrifice, is observed by millions of Muslims all over the world.

Anyway, I was browsing fashion blogs (my current addiction in blogosphere) and I found myself in a trail of bloggers joining the hijabi fashion week challenge, they are to blog for a week based on a daily category. I found a few favorites:

modesty theory

sweet escape

fatin liyana

These gals know how to be fashionable even without too much showing skin. I also feel that the challenge was inspired by Kendi of Kendi Everyday's 30 for 30 Remix Challenge (the concept anyway).

Hmmm *thinking* I wonder if my barkada or group of friends will be ready for a challenge similar to these... That would be fun :D

To my Muslim brothers and sisters, Eid Mubarak!

What I want for 2010

Here's to hoping that this year will be different.

1. digital camera
2. luggage bag
3. netbook
4. planner
5. japanese center table

Pacham Crab in Coconut Milk

Hey guys, remember the box of crustaceans given to me after the trip to Surigao? I have 4 live crabs in possession and early today, I gave 2 to my dear father and lola. :) One was sooo big I just had to photograph myself with it...

And since I was not satisfied I had one shot all zoomed out... haha...

After I got home, I researched how to cook it... and even if I managed to see some information, I somehow neglected to follow the procedure step by step. haha. Thankfully my crab in coconut milk was edible. haha. (*note: the one I cooked were smaller in size*)

Off to Surigao

Agreed time of departure was 4 am. So even if I slept late I set the alarm at 3 am. It was a long trip but we were at Butuan at around 8, quick breakfast at Mcdo and proceeded for Surigao.

CTE (as in Charge to Experience) no. 1. A pee stop at Carmen at a gas service station. I was locked inside, good thing I bought my bag (with the mobile phone) and was able to call my senior and informed my situation. The personnel from the station had to literally kick the door open in order for me to get out.. haha.

CTE no 2. An unexpected turn led us to the route going to Tandag, a different way to Surigao City. haha! We were 60 km out of the way. It messed our time and my senior's monitoring of fuel consumption and trip reading.

It was a quick site inspection, initial site viability and data collection. I hope to present to my boss tomorrow about what transpired from the meeting.
*goodluck*

We were also given some bring home... A box of crabs... haha!

smitten at love

OMG.

Bethany + Seth =

Somewhere, from across the globe, a couple named Bethany (a name like mine) is married to Seth (a name I always liked). I've never met them personally so why am I blogging about this? I dunno. For some unexplainable reason I was smitten at the fact of the existence of their relationship.

Indah gives out a satchel bag

Its 04:01 am on the clock and I've been awake since 2:30.. I can't fall back to sleep so I played on bookworm adventures. I got to level 21 on the mini game Link n' Spell, my highest record so far. haha! Got tired of it so I surfed the web.

I have this penchant to go around fashion blogs, specifically personal blogs that shows of their fashion style and even fashion finds in thrift shops. Its probably because I want to do the kind of stuff they do but just don't have the resources or time to do so. I would tell my bff, D that if only I have dslr we could really do a collaboration of such stuff. oh I'm blabbing too much.

Anyway, my blog hopping led me to fashion must go on. She has this satchel bag as a giveaway and one can score this beauty just by following her. I'm not so keen into following publicly except for fellow blogger who I know in a personal level. Whenever I see a blog I want to follow, I simply link 'em to my sidebar. However, I broke that routine, all for that satchel bag. My oh my! If I get to win that! I just hope I entered her list just in time as her giveaway ends today. *fingers crossed*

Day 30: A photograph of yourself today + three good things that have happened in the past 30 days

B @ 11-1-10

Here are the three good things that happened in the last 30 days:

1. at work: I am grateful to have been given Andy. He's very helpful to keep my job done. I can make rounds to my area without the hassle.

2. for family: I get to see and spend time with my niece, Ycey

3. for friends: I had a wonderful time with my bffs over laughs, food trip and chikka. It is truly wonderful to have them.

I tried really really to get an A+ for this 30-day blog challenge but I'll have to give myself a B-...

All in all, it was a fun October!

Day 29: Something you could never get tired of doing

need I say more?

Day 28: Your favorite movie(s)

I was torn with what I am going to put here since I have a lot of movies in mind.
These are just but a few of those I would love to watch.
Inspirational was my guide. A genre I chose over others.

Forest Gump
Patch Adams
Pay It forward
Brooke Ellison Story
Ice Castles
Remember the Titans
I am Sam

Day 27: A picture of you last year and now and how have you changed since then

hahaha! A picture taken exactly a year apart... I guess I haven't change much except for a few pounds of fat added to my body mass... The now photo was taken with my friends at a photo studio while the then photo was taken during a night out with my cousins... Thanks to my multiply account I was able to have this on file :)

Day 26: A photo of somewhere you’ve been to

Apple Tree Resort

Went swimming with A and D :)

Day 25: What’s in your purse

Day 24: A photo of something that means a lot to you

We don't have that much photo of being together but I believe you pretty much get the picture of what I mean.

Day 22: A letter to someone who has hurt you recently.

Day 21: A photo of something that makes you happy

Ycey babes :)

Alliah Cristabelle, 3 years old

Day 20: The meaning behind your blog name

I got a bit confused with this one, whether it means my url: bee-hive-akun or the blog title: Chronicles of B...

Anyway, I'll give a little background about it... since bff D and I started to make nicknames based on the first letter of our names, pretty much gossip girl-like, I've been tagged and known as B and it turn turned out I got busy with work, hence the name busy bee. It stuck. haha! So I thought of the name that would serve as my niche here in cyberspace, there the hive. With a little twist I used the maranao work for my which is akun... bee hive akun can be translated as my bee hive.

Chronicles of B, my blog title came up simply by me, B, as a chronicler... :)

Day 15: Something you don't leave the house without

For practicality, I don't leave the house without my house key... How am I ever going to get back inside the house without it? haha!

Thursday, October 14, 2010

Day 14: A TV show your currently addicted to

Okay... I love to watch TV series.. There was the addiction to Are you afraid of the dark (even if I hate this kind of genre), then Ghostwriter.. forward, there was Dawson's Creek, My so-called life,... fast forward again, there was Smallville, Early Edition, CSI Las Vegas, Ghost Whisperer, Kyle XY, NCIS and Cold Case...

Current TV addiction:

1. FRINGE - it got most of my plukies hooked on... When it went on hiatus, we miss them all...

2. GOSSIP GIRL - "i know you love me, XOXO"

3. CASTLE - I find this a bit corny but still it works for me.. So funny that he wears the vest "WRITER" while the rest has "POLICE"...

4. LEGEND OF THE SEEKER - A bit interesting for me :)

5. MAGKARIBAL - gotta love the dresses!!!

Only catch, my TV is still unrepaired and the one my colleague lent men for the meantime also gave up on me... kaluoy! so until then these series has to wait...

Day 13: Your favorite musician and why

I love music. I love listening to it. I love to sing even if I'm totally out of tune. But my weakness is, I don't usually follow a certain artist. I go for mellow sounds, and can even stand alternative songs but when it comes to hard rock, I'd rather turn the player off with the exception of course of The Offspring's Pretty Fly for a White Guy... haha!

All throughout highschool, I love Gin Blossoms, Vertical Horizon, Pearl Jam, Alisha's Attic, Alanis Morisette. Lyrics are easy to memorize plus some of their songs have been a hit during those years... And I do went ga-ga for a while for the boy bands which is kinda embarrassing to mention so I'd rather pass... haha! But I know some of you went through the same way... Wag i-deny! haha!

Lately, I enjoy Rascal Flatts, Snow Patrol, Joshua Radin, Natasha Bedingfield, KT Tunstall, and re-discovering Plumb.

Why these artists? Basically I go for the meaning and the content of the lyrics then the melody. There are some songs in my player but because I like the song and not the musician... And it might come in handy for some groovin' time :)

Day 12: A photograph of the town you live in

The city of Golden Friendship...

My location for the past 8 years... urban living... a transition from my 20 years stay in the picturesque MSU...

Monday, October 11, 2010

Day 11: What’s in your makeup bag?

Yehey... something that don't require a photo but would really look good on my blog presentation if I add one... What's on my make-up bag? As if I have one that I carry with me 24/7... Lazy, Ungirly side of me but when I do feel like bringing a make-up bag/kikay kit with me, it would would have the following:

Alcohol / Hand sanitizer
Lipstick / Lip gloss
Band Aid
Safety pin
Tooth pick
Lighter ( a latest addition, work-related)

And that's it... no make up... no fuss... haha!

Triple 10

I'm taking a break from the 30-day challenge with this very short post...

Its the 10th day of the 10th month of the year 2010... haha!

I'm online!

bow. haha!

Day 10: A photo of your favorite place to eat

ugh! This is a toughie! I was categorizing the kind of food I'd like to consider for this post and I can seem to pick a good one... Another downer is that I don't have a good photo that I personally took... Anyways, I'll go for the ultimate hang-out place:

The food is not exceptional but it suits my tastebuds, but what I really love about the place is the memories and the good times I had at this place...

Day 9: A photo of the item you last purchased

Lucky for me I have something for this entry, something I bought yesterday, but just the same, its unlucky for me to have forgotten to take the picture... And since this post is a li'l late, I might as well max out my cheating ways... haha! I was too damn tired that I tried to post through my mobile but fell asleep...

My (new) office bag... hep hep hooray! most of my bags have retired... they couldn't keep up with the weight they have to carry... i hope this one last longer than the others...

Thursday, October 7, 2010

Day 7: Your dream wedding

Hmmm...This one is a challenge... As a child I wanted to have a blue-motif wedding then I want it in a shade of plum then earth colors and now I am back to having it blue which is why I'm not giving any final say. However, I would really really love it to be done outdoors like in a place like Malasag Eco park, my bouquet would be white calla lily and I'll be wearing a simple flowing dress... The bridal car should be white and it's a plus if it turned out to be a convertible bug (like shown above) hahaha! Anyways, its a dream wedding, right? I can always dream... after all its free! haha!

Wednesday, October 6, 2010

Day 6: A photo of an animal you'd love to keep as a pet...

I love to have love birds if not parrot to keep as a pet. It somehow reconnects me with my mom. We used to take care of birds before but all of them died when I was at the hospital after I got into an accident in grade school. I sure hope that one day, when I get to live in a house I could call as my own home, I'll have plentiful of these birds...

Tuesday, October 5, 2010

Day 5: A photo of yourself two years ago..

This photo was taken in 2008 while I was at work... I got a lot of teasing since I was wearing red and the phone on hand was red as well. My office mate took this photo... haha!

Monday, October 4, 2010

Day 4: A favorite photograph of your best friend

This my ultimate favorite photograph of my bestfriend/s... I practically grew up with most of them but our closeness was very much visible all through out our high school days... This is our most recent pic where all of us are present, in short, complete... With everyone getting on their own lives -- family and career, distance and busy schedule, this picture is a commemoration.. haha!

Sunday, October 3, 2010

Day 3: Your idea of a perfect first date

For me, there is no such thing as a perfect first date but I do have an ideal first date... It would start out with an invitation to go malling, where we would eat and have nice chit chat. Then we proceed to a theme park or amusement park or center, but since as of this writing, there's no such place in the city of golden friendship, WOF or Quantum would be okay... haha! It would be nice to be with someone who isn't embarrassed to be seen in such a place and finds himself enjoying being silly. haha!

Saturday, October 2, 2010

Day 2: A photo of something you ate today

I had a lunch date with bffs, A and K at Thai Me Up :) This is what we had for lunch... It was totally appethaizing...

Friday, October 1, 2010

Day 1: photo of yourself and a description of how your day was

Its a tiring day, I spent most of my time in front of the computer, inputting figures and stuff, trying to start my month-end report... B-O-R-I-N-G! Nothing exciting happens when I'm in the office... Boo! Here's a photo of me at our conference room at the terminal...

So there, my first day of this 30-day blog challenge...

30-day blog challenge

One of my bff, D, posted this in her blog and i think I'm ready to take the challenge for this month... hooray! So it's gonna be a fun-filled blogging days for the month of October... *I hope i can conquer this*

Slacking and Multitasking

I always look forward to weekend. It's a Saturday. I'm slacking and multitasking. Month end is just around the corner, pressure and stress is all I'm in for. Another change is about to take place in the department... *crossed-fingers*

Task no. 1: World Wide Web
I'm browsing through my friend's photos and it brings a sense of euphoria. I miss hanging out with my family, the kiamsies, and my batchmates Its nice to know friends' settling down and tying the knot, of their careers going forward. Somehow, it feels like time just flew...

Task no. 2: Laundry Work
Its the day of the week that I can do my laundry. I'm not too ecstatic over doing the chore but leaving alone leaves me no choice. I cannot always depend on laundry shop. Thank God for washing machines. hahaha!

Task no 3: Glee Series Marathon
First episode of season 2 was just shown but since I do not have cable, I missed it. bummer! The irony is, I've never seen an episode before. When the world got crazy over it i was passive, and didn't give a damn. But curiosity got the best of me when my cousin would babble over it at FB. I am not a bonafide gleek but I'm enjoying the episodes I've watched so far... *bring it on!*
